Downstream process equipment (separation and purification stage – solid-liquid separation)

I、Core Functions

Solid-liquid separation equipment is mainly used to separate solids (bacteria, cells, mycelia, insoluble impurities, flocs, etc.) from liquids (supernatant containing target products) in fermentation broth or reaction liquid, providing clarified feed liquid for subsequent purification steps such as concentration, refining and chromatography, and serving as the first key pretreatment unit in downstream purification.

II、Overall technical characteristics

Gentle treatment to preserve product activity: Most adopt low-pressure, low-temperature and low-shear designs to prevent the inactivation of bioactive substances such as target proteins, enzymes and antibodies.
Large processing capacity suitable for industrial production: Capable of continuous or semi-continuous operation to meet capacity demands ranging from laboratory scale to large-scale biopharmaceutical and fermentation engineering.
High separation efficiency with controllable clarity: Enables efficient separation of fermentation broths with high solid content and high viscosity, and the clarity of the filtrate meets the feed requirements for subsequent purification.
Hygienic design compliant with GMP standards: Pharmaceutical-grade equipment is mostly made of 316L stainless steel, easy to clean and sterilize (CIP/SIP), with no dead corners and anti-pollution features.
Linkable with upstream processes and high degree of automation: Can be integrated with fermenters, buffer tanks and transfer pumps to realize automatic feeding, slag discharge, cleaning and online monitoring.
